Mark 6
Jesus was amazed at the lack of faith in his own hometown. I guess he decided to step up his ministry so he sent out his twelve disicples. He told them to stay only in homes and towns where they were welcomed. Otherwise they would not have been able to drive out demons and heal the sick. They preached repentance.
Meanwhile the one who led the way of repentance, John the Baptist, was beheaded. His demise culminated by a young girl so caught up in living with all the pleasures of the moment, that having an old man's head on a platter meant nothing to her. (Most people would think it gross.)
As soon as the disciples got back from their evangelistic journey, Jesus did not let them rest. He immediately told them they had to feed 5,000 men.
So, they leanred to preach repentance, drive out demons, anoint with oil and heal the sick, make provision when food is lacking (a recession). What about in the Fourth Watch? This is the darkest hour before dawn. What about when things are really bad? Oppression? Death bed sickness? Complete poverty?
Jesus saw them struggling in the storm. He would have walked on by, but they cried out to him.
When he got in the boat with them, the storm stopped, and he told them to take courage and not be afraid. Another lesson to learn. Because - vs 52....for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.
Believe.
